Ray Ni ab2b389e7a PeiCore: Remove assertion when failing to load PE image
EFI_PEI_LOAD_FILE_PPI is invoked by DxeIpl for loading DxeCore.
It's possible that the instance produced by PeiCore fails to load but
other instances of EFI_PEI_LOAD_FILE_PPI can load.

Michael Kubacki 9bedaec05b MdeModulePkg/PeiCore: Enable T-RAM evacuation in PeiCore (CVE-2019-11098)

Introduces new changes to PeiCore to move the contents of temporary
RAM visible to the PeiCore to permanent memory. This expands on
pre-existing shadowing support in the PeiCore to perform the following
additional actions:

 1. Migrate pointers in PPIs installed in PeiCore to the permanent
    memory copy of PeiCore.

 2. Copy all installed firmware volumes to permanent memory.

 3. Relocate and fix up the PEIMs within the firmware volumes.

 4. Convert all PPIs into the migrated firmware volume to the corresponding
    PPI address in the permanent memory location.

    This applies to PPIs and PEI notifications.

 5. Convert all status code callbacks in the migrated firmware volume to
    the corresponding address in the permanent memory location.

 6. Update the FV HOB to the corresponding firmware volume in permanent
    memory.

 7. Use PcdMigrateTemporaryRamFirmwareVolumes to control if enable the
    feature or not. when disable the PCD, the EvacuateTempRam() will
    never be called.

Liming Gao 40a7b235e4 MdeModulePkg PeiCore: Always use PeiImageRead() function to load PEI image
In V2, Remove GetImageReadFunction(), directly use PeiImageRead().

The copy PeiImageReadForShadow function doesn't improve the boot performance.
This patch removes this copy logic to simplify the code logic.

Ard Biesheuvel 6e7ec25aaa MdeModulePkg/PeiCore: avoid EFI_IMAGE_MACHINE_TYPE_SUPPORTED to check arch
The EFI_IMAGE_MACHINE_TYPE_SUPPORTED() macro is abused in the PeiCore
code to decide whether the system we are compiling for can deal with
executable code being copied elsewhere and executed from there.

As stated in the comment, this is fundamentally a property of the compiler
target, and so this should be made dependent on MDE_CPU_xxx preprocessor
defines, and not on whether or not the runtime target can deal with
PE/COFF images of a certain machine type.

On X86/IA32, this mostly boils down to the same thing, but not on other
architectures, so let's clean this up.

Hao Wu 16f6922709 MdeModulePkg: Refine casting expression result to bigger size
There are cases that the operands of an expression are all with rank less
than UINT64/INT64 and the result of the expression is explicitly cast to
UINT64/INT64 to fit the target size.

An example will be:
UINT32 a,b;
// a and b can be any unsigned int type with rank less than UINT64, like
// UINT8, UINT16, etc.
UINT64 c;
c = (UINT64) (a + b);

Some static code checkers may warn that the expression result might
overflow within the rank of "int" (integer promotions) and the result is
then cast to a bigger size.

The commit refines codes by the following rules:
1). When the expression is possible to overflow the range of unsigned int/
int:
c = (UINT64)a + b;

2). When the expression will not overflow within the rank of "int", remove
the explicit type casts:
c = a + b;

3). When the expression will be cast to pointer of possible greater size:
UINT32 a,b;
VOID *c;
c = (VOID *)(UINTN)(a + b); --> c = (VOID *)((UINTN)a + b);

4). When one side of a comparison expression contains only operands with
rank less than UINT32:
UINT8 a;
UINT16 b;
UINTN c;
if ((UINTN)(a + b) > c) {...} --> if (((UINT32)a + b) > c) {...}

For rule 4), if we remove the 'UINTN' type cast like:
if (a + b > c) {...}
The VS compiler will complain with warning C4018 (signed/unsigned
mismatch, level 3 warning) due to promoting 'a + b' to type 'int'.

Ard Biesheuvel a0ffd7a9ee MdeModulePkg/PeiCore: allocate BootServicesCode memory for PE/COFF images
Ensure that any memory allocated for PE/COFF images is identifiable as
a boot services code region, so that we know it requires its executable
permissions to be preserved when we tighten mapping permissions later on.

Liming Gao 609730ef91 MdeModulePkg: Update PeiCore dispatcher to handle PEIM and PEI_CORE only
When PcdShadowPeimOnBoot is FALSE, they are not copied to memory and
execute from their original locations. Here, this policy should only
apply for PEIM and PEI_CORE, not for other file type, such as DXE_CORE.

Liming Gao 3d44658ca8 MdeModulePkg PeiCore: Add PCD to specify PEIM Shadow
v2 changelog:
Check CurrentPeimHandle to check the matched PeimHandle.
Add check point to ShadowPeiCore based on PCD.

v1 changelog:
PeiCore LoadImage always shadow itself and PEIM on normal boot after
the physical memory is installed. On the emulator platform, the shadow
may be not necessary. To support such usage, new PCD PcdShadowPeimOnBoot
is introduced to specify whether loads PEIM in memory by default.

ydong10 935efc217f In order to make sure the image is section alignment, after allocate buffer for TE image, it will adjust the base address. But it has two potential issues: One is the start address may not section alignment, second is the buffer is not bigger enough to do the adjustment. This patch fixes these two issues.

andrewfish 27172c0f36 Fix issue with ARM port. Image.c shadow code is not ANSI C and crashes on ARM. So I did the same thing that is done on Itanium and skipped the shadow for ARM architecture in all cases.

jgong5 25973fc3ea Enhance memory copy logic for PEI core image read. The change uses CopyMem() library function for unshadowed version and uses inline implementation for a shadowed version. This reduces PE image reading time to 1/5 - 1/10 when code cache is disabled. The change also fixed a memory leak when allocating shadow space for image read function.

qwang12 284c8400e8 Base on PI spec, GetPeiServicesTablePointer is updated to return CONST EFI_PEI_SERVICES**. This is a incompatible changes. All file that reference this must be updated.

lgao4 a9bfd8029d Roll back PeiImageRead to original implementation, this function will be shadowed, so it can't be replaced by CopyMem Api.
