eric_tian 5e0b1e3f82 fix the issue of "Simple File System Protocol Test -> SetInfo_Conf failed on RAS_MB". When it print a string contained a control character of 0xc, it will hang on ConOut->OutputString() which will preprocessor some control character and call HiiStringToImage to render. There is gap between ConOut->OutputString() and HiiStringToImage.The former doesn't identify '0xc' as a line break character and assert only one line font printed. But the latter think it is so and print 2 line, which causes assertion. 
I add EFI_HII_IGNORE_LINE_BREAK flag to force HiiStringToImage ignore the force line break character.

eric_tian 841014ba97 refine VariablePei driver to unify the algorithm of access VariableIndexTable among various archs. 
1. record the distance of two neighboring VAR_ADDED type variables rather than the offset of each variable. As the field recording this info is UINT16 width, the latter causes in IA32/X64 platform, it can only cache those variables from offset 0 to offset 2^16; in IPF platform, from offset 0 to offset 2^18(extend the scope by left-shift the offset two bits).
when taking the former algorithm, the max range of caching variable is from offset 0 to offset 122*(2^16)

eric_tian bcd7070d86 fix the issue of Inadequate Memory Allocation in Variable Services 
In UpdateVariableInfo(), the code incorrectly allocate a small memory, whose size equate with the number of Unicode name. 
Should change it to be equal to the byte length of this Unicode name.

mdkinney 504dcb0a4e This checkin addresses the compatibility issue of passing arguments of type VA_LIST between components. The type VA_LIST is mapped onto the compiler specific implementation of varargs. As a result, modules build with different compilers may not use the same VA_LIST structure. The solution to this issue is to define a new type called BASE_LIST that is a compiler independent method of passing varargs between modules. 
1) Update the Print2 Protocol to only use arguments of type BASE_LIST.  Since this is a change to the protocol definition, the GUID has also been updated.
2) Update the implementation of DxePrintLibPrint2Protocol for the update definition of the Print2 Protocol.  Since the PrintLib does contain APIs that use VA_LIST, this library must convert arguments of type VA_LIST to arguments of type BASE_LIST prior to calling the Print2 Protocol services.
3) Update the implementation of PrintDxe to match the updated Print2 Prootocol

klu2 d09651693b Fix the bug that build tool and PCD driver can not deal with byte array or ANSIC type value for dynamic PCD. 
This patch including following change:
1) Build tools:
   a) StringTable in generated PCD database is changed to UINT8 array but not original UINT16, because it can also stored the ANSIC and byte array.
   b) The layout of string table in PCD database is changed. To make sure unicode string is in double byte aligned, the item in string table which hold unicode string value will be put ahead than other items. After unicode string item, the HII variable name item is immediate. The byte array item and ANSIC string array item will be put at tail of whole string table.
   c) Fix bug that build tools does not handle the size of unicode string, byte array and ANSIC string.
2) PCD PEI/DXE driver:
   The pointer of StringTable is changed to UINT8* but not original UINT16*.

eric_tian 4772ce75e8 refine the implementation of HiiStringToImage: 
1. Remove the limitation of MAX_STRING_LENGTH and according to actual string length to store glyph info
2. fix a issue when print multi-lines, the next line will overlaps the above line. The original implementation doesn't recalculate the start point of X/Y axis.
3. refine the flow to avoid the meaningless recursive call.
4. modify the usage of "Index" to force them 1/1 mapping between glyphbuf and string. So the RowInfoArray and ColumnInfoArray can reflect the actual situation.

lgao4 84f9a9ec8f 1. Update the implementation of HII ConfigRouting Protocol in HiiDataBase module to follow new ECRs. 
1) ConfigRouting Protocol ExtractConfig interface must return the default values built in IFR that were not returned by ConfigAccess.ExtractConfig.
  2) The parameters of ConfigRouting Protocol interfaces are clarified to the specific configuration string syntax.
2. Implement the last two HiiLib interfaces: HiiSetToDefaults and HiiValidateSettings.
3. Update DriverSample driver to use these two APIs.

jljusten 51967a5314 Acquire & Release the lock from the high level variable service 
routines similar to MdeModulePkg/Universal/Variable/RuntimeDxe.
When the Acquire was in the FindVariable routine, is was
being called by both EmuSetVariable and again in
AutoUpdateLangVariable, which caused an ASSERT to fail.

eric_tian 2fcdca1d73 1. The original code has a bug on calculate the size of SCRATCH_SIZE. It should be maximum value between PcdMaxVariableSize and PcdMaxHardwareErrorVariableSize. 
2. Boot time variable reclaim issue is caused by incorrect flash layout. Platform integrator should ensure that the size of variable region must less than FTW spare space size.
3. Per UEFI Specification, variables of attribute HARDWARE_ERROR_RECORD are guaranteed to have its own storage space size.original implementation doesn’t meet this requirement

qhuang8 2fef9e5f7a Fix a potential bug that GetLanguages() API may return incorrect languages in a string package when the *LanguageSize == OutputSize. 
This issue was hidden since UefiHiiLib API HiiLibGetSupportedLanguages() allocates large enough (4K) buffer to get the supported languages.

eric_tian fba0ee1f4c Fix tracker 202216:linux runtime test issue. 
[Root Cause]
The root cause is that in FindVariable function, original code logic will traverse all variable stored in variable volatile/non-volatile area. If the non-variable area is full and Linux sets a new variable, the caller of GetNextVariablePtr will get the address of next memory block, but this block doesn't be reserved as RUNTIME attribute. Therefore its corresponding page translation table doesn't exist and causes linux kernel panic.

Note that, Variable Pei driver has not such issue as the flash area is accessed in pre-os environment.All page table entries are filled. The access to next memory block will not cause such issue.

eric_tian 7974918212 Fix tracker 202216:linux runtime test issue. 
[Root Cause]
The root cause is that in FindVariable function, original code logic will traverse all variable stored in variable volatile/non-volatile area. If the non-variable area is full and Linux sets a new variable, the caller of GetNextVariablePtr will get the address of next memory block, but this block doesn't be reserved as RUNTIME attribute. Therefore its corresponding page translation table doesn't exist and causes linux kernel panic.

eric_tian 933676058b retire gEfiAlternateFvBlockGuid. All platform FvbRuntimeDxe drivers will not produce such protocol to signify itself support writable FVB protocol. 
FaultTolerantWrite driver and variable driver will register notification event to locate right protocol.

vanjeff dad608335f 1. retried PrimaryConsoleInDeviceGuid, PrimaryConsoleOutDeviceGuid and PrimaryStandardErrorDeviceGuid. 
Consplitter will not install these protocols any more.

2. added logic in Bds to check console handles in System table, if no console handle assigned. Bds module will fill these handles in system table accordingly.

3. fixed one bug before call ConsoleControl->SetMode in FrontPage.c.

eric_tian 8a9e0b7274 1. retire the FvbServiceLib. Directly locating FVB protocol to access interfaces. 
2. modify the method of getting right FVB protocol interface. move the notification event of FVB installation into variable driver. and also move ExitBootService event into variable driver.
3. use EFI_FVB2_WRITE_STATUS flag to distinct whether the FVB protocol supports writing operation or not.Currently, DxeCore installs FVB which has ~EFI_FVB2_WRITE_STATUS(that is, disable write) attrbiute. FvbRuntimeDxe driver should provide a full FVB protocol, which returns EFI_FVB2_WRITE_STATUS attribute to signify itself provide writable FVB protocol. So other modules which need write data by FVB protocol can locate it correctly.
