lzeng14 5e5bb2a9ba 1. Fix TOCTOU issue in VariableSmm, FtwSmm, FpdtSmm, SmmCorePerformance SMM handler. For VariableSmm, pre-allocate a mVariableBufferPayload buffer with mVariableBufferPayloadSize(match with mVariableBufferPayloadSize in VariableSmmRuntimeDxe) to hold communicate buffer payload to avoid TOCTOU issue. 
2. Add check to ensure CommBufferPayloadSize not exceed mVariableBufferPayloadSize or is enough to hold function structure in VariableSmm and FtwSmm.
3. Align FtwGetLastWrite() in FaultTolerantWriteSmmDxe.c to FtwGetLastWrite() in FaultTolerantWrite.c.

lzeng14 9d00d20ed4 1. Use the check IsAddressValid() to prevent SMM communication buffer overflow in SmmVariable, FtwSmm, FpdtSmm, SmmCorePerformance and SmmBaseHelper, and add check to prevent InfoSize overflows in SmmVariableHandler. 
2. Refine the debug message.
3. Add check to make sure the input VariableName is A Null-terminated string.
4. Use local variable to hold StrSize (VariableName) to avoid duplicated StrSize calculation.

lzeng14 f07268bd0f Mallicious code may use SmmFaultTolerantWriteHandler() to update some flash area directly, like Variable region, so return EFI_ACCESS_DENIED after End Of Dxe in SmmFaultTolerantWriteHandler(). 
And add code to prevent InfoSize overflow.

lzeng14 3588bb3529 If DataSize or VariableNameSize is near MAX_ADDRESS, this can cause the computed PayLoadSize to overflow to a small value and pass the check in InitCommunicateBuffer(). To protect against this vulnerability, check DataSize and VariableNameSize to make sure PayloadSize doesn't overflow.

The r14226 check-in indeed has memory leak in allocated "Child" pointer. UsbBusDriverBindingStop() may dereference this pointer and may bring exception on invalid memory access

1.enlarge the recovery time from 10ms to 20ms after port reset to make set address request success for better device compatibility.
2.another enhancement is to use RESET_C bit rather than RESET bit to judge if hub reset port operation is done.

1.Fix the bug in interface parser logic for usb camera device. Reserve device address if the device doesn’t get disconnected.
2.Some usb 1.1 devices require the context evaluation immediately with actual max packet size after detecting the device max packet size.

mdkinney d436d5ca09 Guarantee that free memory in the 4K page starting at address 0 is always cleared to 0. The algorithm is to clear page zero if it is registered with the DXE Core with type EfiConventionalMemory, and to also clear page zero if it is freed using the UEFI Boot Service FreePages(). This patch improves OS compatibility for OSes that may evaluate page 0 for legacy data structures. Before this patch, free memory may contain random values which induces random boot failures for some OSes. This patch may also help find NULL pointer bugs sooner because all of the fields in a data structure dereferenced through NULL will also be NULL now.

mdkinney 9a34087280 Fix a bug in the DXE Core that generates an ASSERT() when the page at address zero is freed and DEBUG_CLEAR_MEMORY() macros are enabled. If DEBUG_CLEAR_MEMORY() is enabled and the page at address 0 is freed, then DEBUG_CLEAR_MEMORY() is invoked skipping over the first 4K page.

ydong10 935efc217f In order to make sure the image is section alignment, after allocate buffer for TE image, it will adjust the base address. But it has two potential issues: One is the start address may not section alignment, second is the buffer is not bigger enough to do the adjustment. This patch fixes these two issues.

1. If at least one of the handlers returns EFI_WARN_INTERRUPT_SOURCE_QUIESCED or EFI_SUCCESS then the function will return EFI_SUCCESS.
   If a handler returns EFI_SUCCESS and HandlerType is not NULL then no additional handlers will be processed.
2. If a handler returns EFI_INTERRUPT_PENDING and HandlerType is not NULL then no additional handlers will be processed and EFI_INTERRUPT_PENDING will be returned.

lzeng14 2a956f7490 Detect some unsupported cases when save boot script, then return error early. 
1. PciCfg Read/Write doesn't support UINT64 width.
2. PciCfg2 Segment must be zero.

Move CheckParameters () to BootScriptSave.c to check parameter early.
Add code for EfiSmbusBWBRProcessCall operation, and let the SmbusLib instance to decide if it is supported or not.

lzeng14 02f49fc23d 1. Duplicate the original boot script data copy, because it may have INSERT boot script at runtime in SMM. If so, we should use original copy to restore data after OS rewrites the ACPINvs region. Or the data inserted may cause some original boot script data lost. 
2. Sync the change into LockBox for S3BootScriptMoveLastOpcode() at runtime in SMM.

lzeng14 3aa764ed74 Multi-SMM drivers couldn't save their boot script successfully all at runtime in SMM, one module's boot script will overwrite another module's. 
Allocate a SMM copy for private data structure, and use a new PCD PcdS3BootScriptTablePrivateSmmDataPtr to transfer and share data between multi-SMM drivers.

5. Fix a typo from “destory” to “destroy” in network code.

lzeng14 90eaa3c1e0 EFI_STATUS_CODE_DATA_MAX_SIZE is just for the maximum size of an EFI_DEBUG_INFO structure. Seemly, it is not suitable to be used in SerialStatusCodeHandler, so update SerialStatusCodeHandler to use MAX_DEBUG_MESSAGE_LENGTH (0x100) as the max printed string size to align with other DebugLib’s behavior.

lzeng14 b504f51998 Optimize the log entry search algorithm to save boot performance. 
1. Search from the first entry can be changed to Search from the end entry, because most End just follows its Start.
2. Match Start and End entry, the first comparison can be changed from Handle to EndTimeStamp, because only zero EndTimeStamp is required to be matched.

lzeng14 fe92f438ac The code line where judges if offset exceed the FTW work space boundary, in some special situations where there are so many records, the offset may happen to be just equal to FtwWorkSpaceSize. And then FtwHead will be updated to be outside of work space wrongly, and cause the system to hang in this driver.

lzeng14 31abeada42 Currently, CapsulePei assumes ScatterGatherList are all related. But, UEFI spec has no such requirement, ScatterGatherList may be standalone. So update CapsulePei to only ignore the invalid ScatterGatherList, and still keep the valid ScatterGatherList.

lzeng14 4694dd1ba8 DestPtr may point to the lower aligned address in the free memory region (FreeMemBase, FreeMemBase + FreeMemSize), the free memory region may be updated to override the private signature. So update FreeMemSize to avoid the potential overlap.

lzeng14 4233bf7066 Enhance SmbiosDxe driver: 
1. If string length exceeds 65535 bytes, return error. So infinite loop will not happen because of UINTN overflow.
2. When a SMBIOS entry is added or updated, check if the total length of SMBIOS table exceeds 65535 bytes, if it happens, return error.

erictian 9c9225255d MdeModulePkg: When media_change happens at Partition.Start(), the lower driver (ScsiDisk) should immediately return EFI_MEDIA_CHANGE but not EFI_SUCCESS. This way is used to avoid the interrupted Partition.Start() closes those opened protocols(DiskIo and DevicePath protocol) who are using by the re-entered partition driver at the same handle.

ydong10 3a4e7a3e73 Per UEFI spec, on CallBack action EFI_BROWSER_ACTION_CHANGING, the return value of ActionRequest will be ignored, but on CallBack action EFI_BROWSER_ACTION_CHANGED, the return value of ActionRequest will be used. 
But, EDKII browser still processes the got ActionRequest. And, all HII drivers in EDKII project also returns their expected ActionRequest value on action EFI_BROWSER_ACTION_CHANGING. 
Now update the browser to follow the spec, and update all core Hii drivers to keep old working modal.

Update for MdeModulePkg.

oliviermartin d65502601e MdeModulePkg/Variable: Check if there is a NV Variable Storage header prior to use its attributes 
The Variable PEI and RuntimeDxe drivers were using the attribute 'HeaderLength' of
EFI_FIRMWARE_VOLUME_HEADER without checking if a Firmware Volume Header was existing at
the base address.
In case the Firmware Volume Header does not exist or is corrupted, the attribute 'HeaderLength'
is a non valid value that can lead to a non valid physical address when accessing produces an
access error.

rsun3 da38df1d09 MdeModulePkg DXE Core: Refine code to avoid UNIXGCC build break. 
The UNIXGCC compiler generates an internal call for division operation when compiling CoreInternalWaitForTick(), which causes build break due to link failure. This check-in changes the implementation of CoreInternalWaitForTick() to avoid this case.

erictian 6b4483cdbd MdeModulePkg: The patch eliminates two assumptions 
1) XHCI host controller hw always provides more than 5 interrupters.
Now using interrupter 0 to accommodate all received events.
2) XHCI host controller hw always provides 32bytes context size.
Now it dynamically detect context size and construct it.

also solved several issues:
1) Divides 64byte width register access to two 32bit registers access because some XHCI chipsets cannot support a single 64bit access.
2) Remove halt host controller statement in UsbBusDriverBindingStop(). It has been done by host controller’s DriverBindingStop(). And XhciDriverBindingStop() need XHCI host controller is in running state because it need execute DISABLE_SLOT cmd to release h/w resource.

lzeng14 795bb9b6c4 1. According to PI errata 0000840 and PI 1.2c Vol 3 3.2.3, remove description rows that start with a Required Alignment (bytes) of 2, 4, and 8. 
2. In PeiFfsFvPpiGetFileInfo(), FileHeader->Attributes needs to be converted to EFI_FV_FILE_ATTRIBUTES from EFI_FFS_FILE_ATTRIBUTES before it is assigned to FileInfo->FileAttributes.
3. Set EFI_FV_FILE_ATTRIB_FIXED and EFI_FV_FILE_ATTRIB_MEMORY_MAPPED bits for EFI_FV_FILE_ATTRIBUTES based on the FFS file and FV image.
